I.D.: En los últimos años hemos tenido varios éxitos.
Record number of screenings for Filmax at this year’s Spanish Screenings, in Malaga.

Filmax will be presenting a total of 11 films at this year’s Spanish Screenings event in Malaga. Some of the biggest films on the company’s slate this year will be family-oriented movies. International buyers will have the chance to see The Lunnis, based on the famous puppet characters from RTVE’s children’s channel Clan, which has just had a successful theatrical release in Spain. There will also be market screenings of the animated films Bikes, which is the first official co-production between Spain and China and has been nominated for Best Animated Film at this year’s Goyas, and Elcano & Magallanes, an animated movie about the first sea voyage around the world. Filmax also has another big animated film currently in production, Turu, The Wacku Hen, which buyers will have the chance to see new and exclusive images of.

Another highlight of this year’s screenings is the multi-award winning film Betwenn Two Waters, which took home San Sebastian Film Festival’s Golden Seashell and Best Film and Best Actor awards at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, as well as 7 Gaudi awards.

Powerful thrillers have always been a hallmark of Filmax and this year is no different, with films such as 70 Big Ones, which had its premiere at the last Sitges Film Festival, and Door Lock, the Korean remake of Filmax’s cult film Sleep Tight, by Jaume Balagueró.

Aside from the market screenings, which will be shown as part of the Spanish Screenings event, Filmax will also be making its presence known in the festival itself. As sales agent, Filmax will have 3 films in the official competition: Double Plus Fifteen, with the incredibly talented Maribel Verdú; The Silent War, a thriller with a western slant and the black comedy 7 Reasons, which boasts an all-star cast, including Emma Suarez and Sergi Lopez. There will also be a special projection of the animated picture Elcano.

Within the Next from Spain section, Filmax will also present promos of its upcoming projects, including the new film from Tele 5 Cinema, I Can Quit Whenever I Want, a “Breaking Bad meets The Hangover”, which looks set to be a huge hit at the Spanish box office this spring.
