España, tercera en número de proyectos seleccionados
Los productores de animación de toda Europa presentarán sus proyectos en la próxima edición de Cartoon Forum, la mejor plataforma para impulsar las coproducciones y para el sector de la distribución de animación para televisión, que este año celebra si vigesimoprimera edición del 14 al 17 de septiembre en Sopron, Hungría. Por primera vez, un país nuevo miembro de la Unión Europea acogerá el evento desde su creación en 1990.
Spain, the third in number of selected projects
Animation producers from across Europe will present their latest projects at the next edition of Cartoon Forum, the platform to boost the co-production and distribution of European animation for television that will celebrate its 21st edition from 14 to 17 September in Sopron, Hungary. This will be the first time that the event is held in a new EU country since its creation in 1990.
El hecho de que los proyectos presentados hayan aumentado un veinte por ciento con respecto al año anterior demuestra la vitalidad creciente de la animación europea. De los 110 proyectos recibidos por CARTOON, 63 han sido seleccionados y representan así a 19 países europeos. En total, suponen más de 360 horas de animación con un presupuesto total de más de 160 millones de euros.
Francia lidera la clasificación por número de proyectos presentados con 20, seguida de Reino Unido con siete, y España, con seis. Los nuevos miembros de la Unión Europea muestran un gran dinamismo con diez proyectos de Hungría, Polonia, Croacia y Letonia.
Las propuestas, de gran creatividad, diversidad y calidad características de la animación europea, incluyen desarrollos multiplataforma, con un 41 por ciento de las series concebidas para televisión y para otras plataformas como teléfonos móviles, iPad, Internet o videoconsolas.
Además de los pitchings de los proyectos, Cartoon Forum 2010 celebrará los premios Cartoon d’Or al mejor cortometraje europeo, un galardón que ayuda a promocionar los nuevos talentos del sector. Este año los nominados son: A family portrait (Joseph Pierce), Kokodrill (Kaspar Jancis), Logorama (François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy & Ludovic Houplain), Sinna Mann (Anita Killi), The tale of little puppetboy (Johannes Nyholm).
También tendrán lugar los Cartoon Tributes para televisión, que reconocen la labor del mejor productor, el mejor broadcaster y el mejor inversor/distribuidor del año.
A 20 percent rise in projects submitted this year reflects the increasing vitality of European animation. Of 110 files received, 63 have been selected from 19 European countries. The projects represent some 360 hours of animation and have a total budget of over 160 million EUR.
France leads the line-up with 20 projects, followed by United Kingdom with seven projects and Spain with six. The new EU member states show a strong dynamism presenting 10 projects between Hungary, Poland, Croatia and Latvia.
The projects –which all have the stamp of creativity, diversity and quality characteristic of European animation– also show producers’ growing interest in developing cross-media properties, with 41% of the series conceived for both television and other platforms such as mobile phones, iPad, internet or video games.
In addition to the presentation of these projects, Magyar Cartoon Forum will also host the Cartoon d’Or 2010 award for best European animated short film, a prize that has helped promote new sector talent since it was created.
