El pasado año un total de ocho títulos españoles, eso sí, todos ellos ubicados en secciones secundarias, participaron en la 60 edición de la Berlinale. En 2011 la organización del certamen alemán ha sido mucho menos benévola con la delegación española y solo ha seleccionado cuatro películas, ninguna de las cuales estará presente en la sección oficial competitiva. Tres de ellas se proyectarán en la sección Panorama (‘También la lluvia’, ‘Amador’ y ‘Medianeras’) y otra más en el apartado Belinale Especial (el documental ‘Escuchando la Juez Garzón’). La conclusión es que un año más el Oso de Oro no viajará a España.
Last year a total of eight Spanish titles participated in the 60th Edition of the Berlinale, although, granted, none of these titles competed in the Official Section. In 2011 the German competition’s organizers have been much less kind to the Spanish delegation and have selected only four films, none of which will be present in the Official Section. Of these, three will be screened in the Panorama section: ‘Even the Rain’, ‘Amador’ and ‘Medianeras’ (‘Sidewalls’), while the fourth picture, a documentary entitled ‘Escuchando al Juez Garzón’ (‘Listening to Judge Garzón’), is part of the Berlinale Special section. The result, once again, is that the Golden Bear will not be traveling to Spain this year.
La Sección Panorama de la 61 Berlinale ha apostado en su edición de 2011 por incluir obras de directores consagrados, además de una elección del mejor cine independiente del momento. En este contexto tres son los títulos con participación española que se proyectarán en la segunda sección en importancia del Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín, que se celebra del 10 al 20 de febrero.
‘También la lluvia’ de Icíar Bollaín, se está convirtiendo, por derecho propio, en la película española del año. Casi finalista en los Oscar y una de las claras favoritas en la próxima edición de los Premios Goya, ahora le llega esta selección para el programa principal de la sección Panorama. El filme es una coproducción de España, Francia y México, protagonizada por Luis Tosar, Gael García Bernal, Juan Carlos Aduviri, Karra Elejalde y Raúl Arévalo. Se da la circunstancia de que el filme de Bollaín también se proyectará en el apartado ‘Culinary Cinema 2011’ en el que bajo el lema ‘Dale una oportunidad a la alimentación’ se podrán ver 12 películas que relacionan alimentos y medio ambiente.
On this 61st edition the Berlinale, the festival’s Panorama section has opted to include the works of acclaimed directors, as well as a selection of today’s best independent films. In this context, three Spanish titles are participating and will be screened in the second most important section at the Berlin International Film Festival, which will be held from February 10th through the 20th.
Icíar Bollaín’s ‘Even the Rain’ is quickly proving by its own merits to be about to become the Spanish film of the year. The picture is a clear favorite for the upcoming edition of the Goya Awards; and it has now been selected as part of the main program for the Berlinale’s Panorama section. The feature is a co-production between Spain, France and Mexico and stars Luis Tosar, Gael García Bernal, Juan Carlos Aduviri, Karra Elejalde and Raúl Arévalo. It just so happens that Bollaín’s film will also be screened in the 2011 Culinary Cinema section, under its motto “Give Food a Chance”. This section offers the festival’s audience a chance to watch 12 films that deal with food and environmental issues.
